Lower-Latency Streaming from OBS with WHIP
OBS Studio can now send to Pixelview over WHIP, and WHIP is the recommended way to connect from OBS. It usually has much lower latency than SRT from OBS and is a better match for Pixelview's newer browser-native playback path.
What's new
- OBS can send directly to Pixelview using a WHIP Server address and Bearer Token.
- In Pixelview's testing, WHIP cut latency substantially compared with SRT from OBS.
- WHIP lets Pixelview skip unnecessary conversion in more workflows.
- OBS remains the recommended path for current HDR beta workflows.
- Connections are more reliable on restrictive managed and corporate networks.
How to switch OBS to WHIP
- In Pixelview Admin, open the Sessions/Projects page.
- Open Setup Instructions.
- Choose OBS Studio.
- Use Option 1: WHIP.
- In OBS, open Settings → Stream.
- Select WHIP.
- Paste the Pixelview Server address into OBS.
- Paste the Pixelview Bearer Token into OBS.
- Use Opus audio and HEVC/H.265 if available.
- Start streaming.
If WHIP is not available in OBS, update OBS Studio or use the SRT fallback from Setup Instructions.
